“Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised .... [The books] talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.”– so wrote Helen Keller. Apart from the sheer joy of reading literary texts, a study of literature prepares students for careers in mass communication journalism, management, civil services, creative writing, theatre, teaching to name a few. A three-year course in English Honours spreads over wide ranging areas of literary activity. There are papers which deal with canonical texts and there are others which offer texts that will sooner than later form a literary canon of their own. The English Faculty is always there to instruct and guide the students. A few among these have publications at the international and/or national level, as well.
