Daulat Ram College, a premier college for women is a constituent college of the University of Delhi, founded in 1960. Originally known as ‘Pramila College' it was renamed Daulat Ram College after the founder educationist Shri Daulat Ram Gupta, when the college shifted to its present location on Patel Marg in the North Campus of University of Delhi in the year 1964.

It is a prestigious women's college of the University of Delhi with a track record of distinction in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. With an enrolment of over 2000 students, it has nineteen departments engaged in offering undergraduate courses of the University of Delhi in Arts, Sciences and Commerce. Seven of these Departments register students at the Master's level for tutorial classes which supplement the M.A. lecture classes held at the University of Delhi. The faculty is highly qualified and experienced, a majority of them with doctoral qualifications and some of them guiding students at the post graduate and doctoral levels. A well equipped library and excellent facilities for sports, including gymnastics, are strong assets of the college. Academic and co-curricular activities are organized by different departments through Subject Associations and Societies both at inter class and inter college levels providing ample opportunities for participation and creative expression in both academic and co-curricular fields.

Apart from providing an arena for intellectual and cultural expressions, life in Daulat Ram College is also an experience in development of a democratic spirit, a sense of community and intellectual maturity. The different functions held in the college throughout the year, and the college festival “Manjari” organized by the Students' Union provide for a close interaction between students and teachers. Occasional field trips, excursions and out station visits make for a close bonding between teachers and students. For aspiring young writers, ‘Pramila', the college magazine provides an excellent opportunity for expressing and developing writing and literary skills under the able guidance of the faculty. The college auditorium ‘Sadbhavana Bhavan' is a meeting ground for activities in the field of -sports, arts and culture. The college encourages students to achieve high in academic and co-curricular activities and a number of prizes are awarded each year in recognition of merit in different fields.

The Women's Development Centre of the college is not only involved in counseling where needed but also in sensitizing students to the world around, seeking to help them to become socially concerned persons. The active units of National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) in the college seek to train students towards meaningful citizenship.

The secular and cosmopolitan character of the college is reflected in students of different communities and from different parts of India and abroad who join this college every year. Over the last few years, the college has had foreign students from countries including Mauritius, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sikkim, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, U.K., Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, USA, Fiji, Korea, Indonesia, China and Greece.

The college has one of the best students' hostels for women in the University of Delhi, with an intake capacity of around 125 students. It is open only to undergraduate students of Daulat Ram College. Its sylvan surroundings, well maintained interiors and homely atmosphere is a virtual home for students coming from far off places. Students joining the hostel are sure to have a rewarding experience.
